Introduction to REALSOUL’s OurStory Curriculum

Using an Ethnic Studies pedagogical approach, our poster series serves as supplemental materials to learn about the intersections between Asian America and other marginalized communities. Prompted by REALSOUL illustrated posters, each unit comes with age-appropriate interdisciplinary lesson guides and are aligned with the California Common Core standards.

Each lesson guide follows Dr. Allyson Tintiago-Cubales’s framework, A.R.T. This approach empowers students to Analyze situations critically, Reflect on diverse perspectives, and Transform ideas into action. It’s a simple yet powerful method to enrich learning and inspire change.

Why Choose REALSOUL?

Interdisciplinary

Our lessons use math, science, art, social studies, and English to explore stories of marginalized communities and how they intersect throughout American history.

Inquiry Based

Our pedagogy is informed by the experiences of teachers and students. When they reflect upon their life experiences and begin asking questions, that's when the learning starts.

Community Oriented

Not only are our lessons made with community, but we also want to ensure that the teachers and students we work with are supported every step of the way.

Easy to Navigate

We try our best to make our material as understandable as possible. This means breaking down jargon and giving options for teachers to see what works best in their classrooms.
